MY PROJECT
How did I go about the project?
As soon as we decided to undertake this project, I sent a message explaining the project idea to all my contacts. Before I knew it, more than fifty people wanted to be a part of the project, but I decided to stick to original plan and chose ten people who had called first.
I then requested each person to fill out a form which contained details related to body type, health conditions(knee problems, back problems, thyroid, diabetes, varicose veins, etc), blood group etc. I studied each individual person carefully, analysed his/her profile, and then made a personalized yogasana plan for him/her.
After that, I went to each person's house for one session. In that session, I showed him/her the right way to do the asanas given in the plan. I told him/her the precautions that must be taken and gave him/her some general instructions.
Why did I limit the project to only ten people?
I'm sure you're wondering, "Oh well, it's great that she got so much response from people, but why then didn't she help all the people who signed up?" I'll tell you why.
Honestly, I didn't help all the fifty people because of the time the process took. For a single person, I had to get the form filled, analyse it, study the body conditions, think of asanas, create a yoga plan, take photos of me doing the plan and create a sheet to give the person, get the sheet modified and confirmed from my yoga coach, go to the person's house for an hour to show him how it's done and follow up with the person weekly.
That's not it - each person had not one, but minimum two or three health problems, so I had to make sure that each asana I gave was in line with the all the problems the individual was facing. The entire process for a single person took at least a week. Helping out fifty people meant spending fifty weeks, more than 20 hours each week, and this was in addition to my school work, german and dance.

But this doesn't mean I didn't want to help those other forty people. I did. I still do - and that's why I'm soon coming up with a plan which is standardized, but still personalized.
Let me explain. The plan will tell you what asanas you should do when you have a certain problem, at the same time telling what you shouldn't do for the problem. For example, Rajesh has diabetes, thyroid and knee problems. For diabetes, he should do asanas A, B and C, but he shouldn't do D and E. For thyroid, he should do D and F, but shouldn't do G and H. For his knee problems, he should do H and I, but shouldn't do A and G. Then his program will be - B, C (for diabetes), F (for thyroid) and I (for knee problems). I have already begun building such a program, but it will take some time before I bring it into practice. Meanwhile, I'll complete my teacher's training program and become a certified teacher.
RESULTS
I am just three months into the project, but the results are truly astounding! I already have people telling me that they are feeling better or that their problems have reduced.
One lady has particularly shown massive improvement. She has frozen shoulder. Earlier, she couldn't even lift her hands up to a 100 degrees, but now it goes up to more than 160 degrees!
Since the project is still in its initial stages, the results aren't yet conclusive, but I can definitely see some truly amazing changes in my follow-up sessions.
Yoga's power to heal people and positively influence their lives continues to amaze me!
