WHAT MY GURU SAYS ABOUT ME

Manali Deo, Director and Founder of Mind and Body Yoga Institute

I have known Rahi for the past four years and in these four years, Rahi has shown tremendous growth as a yogi, and as person. Rahi impressed me with her passion to learn on the very first day of her course.  She was bubbling with enthusiasm and wanted to try out every asana I showed to her.

Although Rahi joined Yoga comparatively late, her growth was exponential. In a mere time span of two years, she became one of the top excelling students I have taught in my entire teaching career of 17 years. Her dedication, perseverance and continuous efforts are responsible for the immense progress she made in a relatively short time.
When she found out that she was selected for an international competition, Rahi followed a proper diet and abstained from her favorite desserts and junk food for four months. She slogged for hours everyday and didn't stop till she perfected each asana. Due to her eye for detail and motivated spirit, she could soon master the asanas in the syllabus of the competiton. She made me proud by winning a silver medal at the international Yoga competition held by Students Olympic Association in Malaysia. After all the efforts she put into the practice, I believe the medal was truly well-deserved.

In the world of competitive yoga, most of the learners are only interested in the asanas. Unlike these students, Rahi was keen on knowing not just the perfect posture of the asana, but also its effects on the body, benefits, drawbacks, precautions to be taken while doing it and even its history. I found her approach towards yoga an extremely unique and admirable one.

Rahi has helped me on multiple occasions. Whenever we go to yoga competitions outside the city, she helps me chalk out a perfect plan of the trip. She calculates the expenses and creates a budget that is affordable to all. I can fully rely on her to manage a group of students. Her flair for leadership combined with her willingness to help others makes her a truly wonderful person. Rahi has also helped me translate my book "Yoga for Kiddos" from Marathi to English.

When she approached me about the community project idea, I was highly impressed. At a young age of sixteen, Rahi could not only understand the problems of the world, but also find solutions to them with the knowledge she had. As she is not yet a certified Yoga teacher, Rahi requested me to confirm the yogasana plans before she gave to the people. I found this to be extremely responsible behavior on her part.

It is certainly a pleasure to be Rahi's Yoga Guru.
